Executive Summary
A leading organization is seeking a results-driven Manager of Strategic Sourcing & Category Management – Software (SaaS Focus) for a US-based remote contract. The successful candidate will lead sourcing activities for company-wide software initiatives, acting as the primary expert and point of contact for SaaS and software supplier engagements. This position is responsible for balancing innovation and risk management, managing supplier relationships, coordinating pilots, and ensuring alignment across technical, business, legal, and financial stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the end-to-end sourcing and category strategy for SaaS and software solutions, including evaluation, selection, contracting, and lifecycle management
Serve as the single point of contact for SaaS/software suppliers, overseeing proof-of-concepts, tracking outcomes, and managing full-cycle adoption decisions
Act as Program Management Office (PMO) for high-impact software pilots, ensuring progress tracking and stakeholder alignment
Execute RFx processes (RFI/RFP/RFQ) to evaluate new software solutions, balancing performance, cost, risk, and business value
Negotiate complex supplier contracts (MSAs, SOWs, licensing, service agreements) to protect commercial, technical, and legal interests
Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Security, Legal, Finance, and Product teams to establish supplier strategy and best practices
Establish sourcing frameworks and provide advisory support to stakeholders, especially on complex engagements
Track supplier performance, market trends, and emerging capabilities to inform sourcing strategy and mitigate risk
Deliver measurable business impact through supplier consolidation, cost optimization, and value-added partnerships
Maintain strong stakeholder alignment, clear communication, and advisory support

Skills & Qualifications

7+ years of sourcing/procurement experience, with proven success in software/SaaS category management
Strong knowledge of SaaS and enterprise software supplier landscapes
Demonstrated experience managing software sourcing pilots and adoption programs
Commercial acumen and advanced negotiation skills with experience structuring complex contracts
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and build trusted relationships with technical and business partners
Risk-aware and enthusiastic about emerging technology solutions
Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and client service orientation
Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a high-paced and dynamic environment
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or related field (MBA/advanced degree a plus)
