You will be responsible for delivery of specific work packages supporting the communications system development; engaging across a range of technical disciplines such as: RF integration, Free space optical communications, digital signal processing, waveforms and network engineering.
Management of system requirements.
Feasibility studies to determine system architecture.
Modelling of communication system waveforms and networks.
Producing clear and concise technical documentation for your work.
Reporting to the Project Engineering Lead for your team, providing updates on work package completion
Working closely with other members of the waveform team across airborne communication projects as required to develop and deliver our waveforms
Displaying good team working behaviours and taking a responsibility to manage your own work load in conjunction with the team
Engaging with customers and suppliers as necessary
Required
Experience in the development of military and/or civil communication systems.
Experience in communication system analysis / modelling / simulation tools (MATLAB preferred).
Ability to produce detailed technical reports.
Graduate degree in relevant engineering, mathematics or related scientific discipline.
Ideally
Knowledge of Communication Air Interface Protocols (including modulation and coding schemes).
Knowledge of mobile communications waveforms and networks.
An understanding of RF communication system hardware implementation (such as transmitters, receivers, filters, software defined radio).
An understanding of communications security (COMSEC) architectures.
Knowledge of Digital Modulation,
Knowledge of Channel Coding (FEC)
Knowledge of Filtering in the Digital Signal Processing domain
An understanding of how to adapt mathematical algorithms for efficient FPGA implementation
