Safety Engineer - Aviation Investigation shall:

 

·      Conduct investigations into aviation safety occurrences and incidents that have been assigned.

·      Investigations will require:

o   Liaising closely with stakeholders at all levels across the business in relation to occurrences.

o   Conducting interviews of all those with a stake in safety occurrences events.

o   Ensuring that investigations into occurrence reports are fully recorded within relevant reporting software.

o   Identify all occurrence causal factors within the investigation scope.

o   Assess and report on all Human Factors related to occurrences.

o   Brief the Aviation Safety Manager (UK) and Accountable Managers on investigation progress and/or findings as required.

o   Highlight potential aviation safety risks through the Aviation Safety Manager (UK) & SMS and Aviation Risk Manager particularly where ‘Bowtie’ safety barriers are found to be weak or missing.

o   Liaise with stakeholders and subject matter experts on possible solutions to safety related issues found within the investigative process.

o   Assist in the management of the ERG process and outputs.

o   Monitor the completion of actions.

o   Ensure all report investigations and details are uploaded and completed in Centrik reporting software.

 

Other:

·         To take an active role in Business Improvement and, as necessary, carry out improvement activities.

·         Take a proactive approach in personal development.

·         Support the update of this JRD on an annual basis.

  • Support analysis and trending of safety data, in particular identification of repetitively weak safety barriers.
  • Conduct or support offsite investigations in the UK and overseas when necessary.
  • Support continual improvement of safety initiatives – e.g. Safety Protects.

·         Respond to Aviation Safety related queries as required.

  • Hold, promote and demonstrate safety as a core value to the organisation, supporting all efforts to achieve a ‘Just’ safety culture.

·         Provide support to Event Review Groups and/or HR on the detailed aspects of investigations conducted.

  • Actively support and promote the Company’s Safety Management System.
  • Support as required the progression and investigation of DASORs.
  •         Other duties as directed by Aviation Safety Manager (UK) in support of achieving company aviation safety goals.
